Harrison 2 Weeks

Harrison is growing so fast!  He already looks so different than he did when he was born.  He's such a cute sweet little baby.  He's changed over the past few weeks.  For the first week after he was born he just slept all the time.  He woke up to eat then went right back to sleep.  The second week he was a little more alert but still slept most of the time.  

When he was born he weighed 7lbs 5 oz and they said he was 18 1/2 inches long.  At his 4 day old appointment he weighed exactly the same and was 20 inches tall. So he was obviously measured wrong in the hospital.  At 2 weeks he weighed 8 lbs 3 oz and was 20 1/2 inches tall.  So he's growing great and gaining weight like he should.  The doctor said everything looked great.  At my 20 week ultrasound they found that that he had a little bit of hydronephrosis.  So basically his kidney's aren't draining like they should and he had a little bit to much fluid in his kidneys.  I had another ultrasound at 33 weeks and he still had a little bit of a problem so he has to have an ultrasound when he's 6 weeks old just to make sure it isn't a problem.   It usually goes away on it's own and it isn't an issue but they'll check him in a few  weeks and we'll see.

 First Day Home

We took him home on Saturday afternoon.  That night Jordan went to the priesthood session of conference with his brothers and dad.  The boys had been at my parents the whole day so my mom brought them home after Jordan left.  My mom and sister hung out at my house and helped me with the kids and we gave Harrison his first bath.  

This little guy has definitely changed our lives in a really good way.  We love him so much.  Jacks and Link absolutely love him.  They're having a hard time with less attention but they love their brother.   Link always tells me "I love my brother Harrison."  When ever he cries they run over to him and talk to him and tell him "Don't cry baby."  The other day we were trying to get out the door to take Jacks to preschool and Harrison was sitting in his car seat screaming while I grabbed a few things for my diaper bag.  He stopped crying and I walked in the room and Jacks and Link we both crouched down next to him holding his hands telling him "Hi baby" "Don't cry baby."  and "I love you baby."  It was really sweet.  They really love each other.  Harris seems to really like them as well.  They already have nicknames for him.  Link calls him "Harrison Harry", Harris, Harrisie, and just plain Harry.  It drives me crazy when they call him Harry.  I hate that names!  That was honestly my hesitation with naming him Harry because I was worried people would call him Harry and I hate that name.

Life With 3 Boys

Life has become kind of crazy.  The adjustment from 2 kids to 3 kids is definitely harder than 1 to 2.  Jacks and Link are actually doing really well with having a new baby in the house.  I was so worried about them adjusting and being nice to Harrison.

Right before Harrison was born Link as in a really mean phase.  I was so worried that he'd be mean to him but he's actually done great.  Link has been so sweet with Harrison.  He lays down next to him and says "Hello baby." He calls him Harris and Harrisie.  He grabs his hands and shakes them and says "Nice to meet you." He always says "I want to talk to baby."  First thing in the morning when he gets up he's so excited to talk to Harrison.  It's so sweet.  I'm so surprised and really happy that he's adjusting well.

I almost had him potty trained before Harrison was born.  He was doing really good and I feel like he was really close to being potty trained but once Harrison was born he just completely gave up on potty training.  It's been so frustrating Jackson was hard to potty train but once he decided to do it he was potty trained over night.  Link is having a really hard time.   We've started making some more progress the last couple of days but I think it could still be a while before we get him fully potty trained.

Jacks has actually struggled more with Harrison than Link has.  Jacks has been kind of a punk to Link just teasing him constantly and being really disobedient.  He's just really struggling because he's not getting as much attention as before.  He's in a really bad sleep schedule at the moment too.  He's been going to bed at like 10 at night lately which has been so hard for us because then Jordan and I never get a break from them.

Harrison is doing great.  He doesn't sleep that well at night but does great during the day.  He seems to like Jacks and Link.  He likes to watch them a little.  They think it's great to do crazy moves and dances for Harrison to watch.  He's still eating every 2 hours which is super time consuming and hard at night.

Harris is such a sweet little guy and we seriously love him so much.  I can't believe he's only 2 weeks old I can't even imagine life without him.  It seems like he's been here for so much longer than 2 weeks.  Adding a third kid definitely makes things a little more stressful.  I don't really like to take him out a ton so we've mostly just been staying home, going to our parent's houses, and we've been tot he park a couple times.

Everything just seems to take longer with a third child.  Getting ready for the day takes FOREVER!  By the time we all bath and get ready it seriously just takes hours.  If we don't have anywhere to be it's seriously close to noon before we are all ready for the day.  It's just really hard to feed Harrison every 2 hours and I usually have to wait for him to fall asleep before I get in the shower.  It just makes getting out the door a lot harder.  There is a lot more that we have to take with us like extra blankets and cloths because his diaper always leaks.   Jacks has preschool at 9:30 and it's kind of a struggle to get there on time.  We usually have to bath the kids and get as much ready as possible the night before.

He's Finally Here!

Our baby is finally here! This pregnancy felt so long! Not just because being pregnant is hard but I just wanted the little guy here. The sweet little guy kept us waiting he was born the day before his due date. I went to my ob appointment on March 31 at 10 am and my doctor was leaving town the next day for 5 days so she said if there was room in labor and delivery she would induce me that day.

Labor and delivery was crazy busy that day and they doesn't call me all day so I called around 5 and they said there was still someone in front of me but they would call when they had a room and a nurse for me.  We hung out at my parent's house just waiting for them to call.  We put our kid to bed at 8 and still hasn't heard from l&d so by 9:30 I just assumed they'd call me the next day. My kids were already in bed so Jordan and I just went home to go to bed.  They finally called me at 11 o'clock and said they'd have a room in an hour or 2. At midnight they called me and we headed to the hospital.  The started the pitocin around 1:30 AM and the little guy was born at 4:52 AM.  So it didn't take very long at all.  I think I was actually already in labor when I went to the hospital so the pitocin just made things go faster.  I was having regular contractions they just weren't very strong yet.  I probably would have had the little guy that day anyway just later in the day and I would have missed my doctor so being induced worked out really well.  Being induced was really nice.  I was able to get my epidural really early before the pain got really bad and I was only in labor for a little over 4 hours.

Harrison was born 4:52 AM 7lbs 5 oz, 18 1/2 inches.

Harrison had the cord wrapped around his neck so my doctor had to hurry up and cut it so Jordan didn't get to do it.  I'm just glad she was so quick and took care of it.  Everything went really well.  He's healthy and super cute.  We seriously love the little kid.  Mother Baby was completely full so after he was born we had to stay up on labor and delivery until noon.  It was actually really nice because the rooms on labor and delivery are so much bigger and nicer.  My pediatrician came and circumcised him and checked him out and he said everything looked great.

My mom brought my boys to see Harrison that afternoon.  I was so nervous about my boys with the baby but they were so good.  They were so sweet to Harrison. I was worried Link would have a hard time but he was actually really sweet.  They both game Harrison kisses and wanted to hold him.  It was really sweet.

We were both so tired the whole day from missing a whole night of sleep.  I have the hardest time sleeping at the hospital and I just wanted to go home so bad.  We stayed one more night and Harrison had kind of a hard night and didn't sleep very well. We went home the next day around noon.  

First day home

We had a really hard time picking a name for Harrison.  We kind of had two names picked out Grant and Harrison.  We had kind of decided on Grant when we went to the hospital and even kind of told people that was his name the day he was born but didn't fill out any paperwork yet.  The next day Jordan decided that he didn't really look like a Grant to him and that he looked more like a Harrison so we decided to go with Harrison.  Harrison fits him and we really like it.

Harrison is such a sweet little baby.  At the moment he sleeps about 21 hours a day.  He sleeps great during the day I have to wake him up to eat sometimes or he'll just sleep for hours.  At night he wakes up on his own about every 2 hours.  The last couple of nights he's had some bad gas and hasn't slept very well.  He doesn't really scream but he fusses a lot.  He really likes to be held and will sleep great as long as I hold him but when I set him down he wakes up immediately.

He's such a strong little guy he can roll over to his side and when I burp him he lifts his head up.  I took him to the doctor when he was 4 days old just for a weight check and he weighed exactly the same as the day he was born.  They said he was 20 inches tall which sounds more accurate to me.  I think they must have measured him wrong in the hospital 20 inches seems a lot more accurate to me just because of the way cloths fit him and he's super skinny I think he'd be a lot fatter if he were that short.  At 4 days he was 7lbs 5 oz (35%tile), 20 inches long (55%tile), and head 13.5 inches (33%tile).
