Do You Want To Build A Snowman?

Winter is hard with kids but we've tried to have some fun even in the cold.  Jackson tells me at least twice a week he wants to build a snowman.  He loves to be outside and play in the snow.  We made his first snowman this year which he immediately knocked over.  We had a lot of fun rebuilding it over and over again.
We took the boys sledding for the first time this winter.  Jackson loved it!  He didn't want to stop when it was time to go home.  Link didn't really seem to care he didn't cry but also didn't really smile.

We took the boys to see the Midway Ice Castle.  Both boys loved it!

He loved grabbing the walls.

This picture doesn't show it but he loved Olaf!

On our way home from the ice castle we stopped at Deer Creek and walked out on the ice. There were tons of people ice fishing so we knew it was safe but I still got a little nervous.  I made Jackson scared because I was kind of freaking out.  It was a lot of fun.

Poor kid was so scared!  He was just clinging to Jordan!

This picture is kind of embarrassing but funny!  I kind of slipped on the ice and heard the ice crack at the same time so I was freaked out.  So that's what's up with the weird face in this picture.

Winter has been fun this year but we're definitely ready for spring!  It's kind of ridiculous when the 40 degree weather we've been having starts feeling nice.  We're so tired of being stuck inside that 40 degrees is now park weather!

Jackson 2 1/2

What to say about Jackson… The kid is wild he is seriously hilarious!  He’s a really big kid!  I took him to the doctor for his 2 ½ year appointment he’s 96%tile for height!  He wears mostly size 4 cloths.
I LOVE this picture.  It shows his personality.

He loves music and dancing.  He dances almost every time he hears music.  His favorite songs are Jingle Bell Rock and Sugar Rush (from Wreck it Ralph).  We were listening to the radio and Jingle Bell Rock came on he told me “Jingle Bell Rock!  That’s my song!”  He sings “Jingle Bell, Jingle Bell….. In the frosty air.”  I told him Jesse’s Girl is a good song and he looked at me like I was crazy and sang “Sugar rush, sugar rush, ooh ooh…. That’s a good song!”

He loves Legos and Play doh we go back and forth between the two all day. He loves movies his favorites right now are Wreck it Ralph, Despicable Me, and Toy Story. He always wants to play outside.  Jackson is finally old enough that he understands holidays.  I love it!  It’s so fun doing all the fun little kid things during the holidays.  I’ve been waiting for this since he was born! We made gingerbread houses and drove around to look at lights.  He loved Christmas lights and Santa this year.  He was really sick with the stomach flu on Christmas Eve and Christmas day.  We had to miss the Christmas Eve party at the Hales house but we still had fun sitting home as a family watching movies together.  He still wasn’t feeling good on Christmas but he got excited about opening his presents from Santa.
Jackson is a super picky eater!  It’s really hard to get him to eat anything except pancakes.  He LOVES pancakes, he wants to eat them for every meal.  He gets the bag of pancake mix out of our pantry about 5 times a day and asks me to make them for him.  Every time I do make him pancakes he scoots a chair up to the bar and yells “Mom! I want to help you!”  Then he grabs a fork and helps me mix.  He loves to throw things into his pancakes like chocolate chips and anything else he can find on the counter like salt.
One of his many fits because I won't let him eat pancakes 3 times a day.

Jackson is at a really hard age for sleep.  He hates taking naps and usually refuses to take one and then at about 4 o’clock he starts getting really grumpy because he’s tired.  If he does take a nap he won’t go to bet until 10:30 at night.  So it’s just hard because he’s in between needing a nap and not.  We’ve been working on potty training.  He is kind of hit and miss with it.  Some days he’s really excited about it and does great other days he just refuses.  He’s really stubborn so if he doesn’t want to there is no way I can talk him into it.
Jackson is a good brother to Lincoln they love to play together.  They play “the crawling game” which basically they just crawl around on the floor together and follow each other around.  They think it’s great.  They play follow the leader, Jackson walks around I hold Link’s hands and help him walk and we follow Jackson around the house and sing the following the leader song from Peter Pan.  He hates when Link cries he always yells at me “Mom Link’s crying! Pick him up.”  He’s a really sweet kid.
