Spring 2018

It's finally summer!  The past couple of months have been pretty busy.  Jordan and I went to Nauvoo and the boys went both finished school.  

Jackson

Jackson finished 1st grade which is just crazy to me.  He learned so much this year.  He is so good at reading now.  I was so worried about him at the beginning of the year he was really struggling to read but now he's reading chapter books.  He's been reading the Magic Treehouse and Goosebumps.  He's so happy that school is over.  He kind of wants to play video games all the time which has been kind of a struggle.

Link is getting so big.  He finished preschool and he's so excited to start kindergarten.  He did so many fun things this year and he's learned so much.  He knows the alphabet and is starting to read 3 letter words.  I think he's going to do great in school.  He just wants to play with friends all the time.

Harrison

Harrison has changed so much lately.  He is getting so big he has starting talking a ton lately.  He has started talking in sentences lately and it's so cute.  He thinks he's so big.  He always wants to be outside.

Jordan and I both had Lasik.  Jordan's went perfectly and he can see great.  Mine didn't quite fix my eyes I have to have surgery again in a couple of months so hopefully it'll work better next time.

It's finally summer!  We're so excited to be done with school and have some warm weather.  My boys want to be outside all the time.  They love to play with water they've already had a few days that they swam in the backyard with their neighbor friends.  My boys absolutely love their neighbor friends and they practically live at our house.  I'm so glad they have friends but sometimes we just need a little break from them so I've started doing what we call summer adventures.  We all take turns deciding what fun thing we want to do only the person deciding what we do and I know what we're doing so it's a fun surprise for the rest of them.  We went mini golfing, and the splash pad.  We're all trying to think of some fun things to do this summer.

Link's Graduation

Link graduated from Preschool!  His teacher was so great this year he absolutely loved her.  She isn't teaching anymore and I'm so sad I would have loved to send Harrison there in a couple of years.  He had so much fun and learned a ton this year in preschool.  There was a super cute little graduation ceremony and he had 2 parts.  He did such a good job.  I was so proud of him.  He looked so stinking cute in his little cap and gown.

Nauvoo

A couple of weeks ago Jordan had a conference in St. Louis for work.  It seemed like a great excuse for us to go on a little vacation so we Jordan's parents and I flew out after his conference was over and met him there.  We went to Nauvoo for a couple of days and then drove to Kansas City and stopped at all the church sites on the way then flew out of Kansas City.

We flew in on Wednesday and our flight didn't land until 6 and our hotel was in Nauvoo which is over 3 hours away so we left straight from the airport for Nauvoo.  It was a long day traveling all day.  The next day we got up and drove around a little and then went to Carthage. Carthage was pretty cool.  It wasn't busy at all so we were the only people on the tour and Jordan's parents knew the missionaries giving us our tour so it was pretty cool.

We went during the off season so everything closes at 5 and there's really nothing at all to do in Nauvoo after 5.  So that night we drove around a little bit and went and saw Warsaw and some of the other little towns in the area.

The next day we went to all of the little pioneer houses in historic Nauvoo.  It was really cool to see everything and just watch Lynn chat with all the old missionaries.  That night we went and did a session at the Nauvoo temple.  It was a beautiful temple.

The next day we left pretty early for Kansas city.  We stopped at Adam-ondi-Ahman; it was beautiful there but there really anything to do there.  We just walked around for a while and jumped back in the car.  We went to Jamesport to see the Amish.  There were a lot of people there because the town was having their summer festival so there weren't very many Amish around.

We made a stop in Farwest.  The only thing there were the cornerstones of the temple and some plaques to read.  We stopped at a little bookstore to ask for directions and Jordan's parents started talking to the guy working there so Jordan and I just went and sat on the stores porch.  There was a weird bug on one of the chairs that I notice which we then found out was a tick!  It was attached to Jordan's back which was super gross! He got a tick sitting on a chair on a porch not even walking through the brush.  It was super gross.

It was a really long day in the car.  We finally made it to Kansas City and went to Liberty Jail.  It was  a lot different than I was expecting but it was good.  We went to the Independence visitors center and walked around for a little bit.  Then finally found a hotel that night.

The next day was a Sunday so we went and walked around the Kansas City Temple then flew home.  It was a really fun trip but I missed my boys a lot while I was gone.
