February 2016

February seemed to go really fast but also kind of drag on at the same time.  We didn't really do anything that exciting in February mostly just tried to get our house put together.  Our house is finally painted!  It only took 4 months.  The painter started in October and just finished January 29th.  It seriously looked horrible when he was done but I was just at he point that I don't even care we've just been fixing it ourselves because we were just so tired of dealing with it.  We spent most of the month getting our house put together and getting things clean.  Decorating our house is our main project right now.  It's not really my thing and it gets so expensive!  Jordan's mom has been really good to help us though so it's getting there slowly.

Jordan started his new job this month. He was working as the accountant for Spanish Fork City and he just got promoted to the treasurer.  He likes it but it's been kind of stressful for him so far.  He is still trying to figure out the new job and help train his replacement a little.  It's been hard for him to take time off work because he has so many new responsibilities and a ton of meetings to go to.  He's enjoying it though and learning a lot.

I'm still just working once a week which has been good but it gets harder every week.  We're getting really excited for our new baby.  I'll be 36 weeks on Saturday so it's getting really close.  We still have a TON to get ready before he comes so I'm starting to stress a little.  All of our baby stuff is still scattered throughout our house and garage from the move and we still need to get his room ready.  So hopefully he won't be too early or we might not have everything ready. I think my boys are really starting to understand that we're going to have a new baby and I think they're getting excited.  We're still working on a name.  We're thinking probably Grant but we don't know for sure yet.  Jackson has finally agreed that Grant Joseph Hales is a good name and Link still likes Optimus.

Jacks
Jacks is getting so big!  He is seriously 3 inches taller than most of the kids his age.  He's just a huge kid.  It seems like things have finally started to click with work.  I've been really worried about him because I always felt like he was so far behind with school work he's really struggled with counting and letters.  We talked about holding him back from kindergarten in the fall because he's struggled so much.  I talked to some of my in laws that are school teachers and they told me it might be a maturity issue and things might just click one day and he'd just get it.  It seems like he might be getting there.  He's made some progress with counting and letters lately.  He's always struggle with counting and could only ever count to 6. A couple of days ago I was counting with him and he counted to 10 a few times on his own which was huge progress I'm really excited about it.  He is starting to learn some letters and their sounds.  So hopefully we'll be able to catch him up before kindergarten starts in the fall.  He's so excited to go to kindergarten.

Jacks has been doing speech once a week at an elementary school by our house.  I haven't noticed a huge difference yet but we're working on it.  He's getting better at saying things when the speech therapist works with him he's still just struggling to incorporate it into his regular speech.  He really likes it though so I guess that's important and I think it's good for him to go to an actual elementary school because then he'll be a little more comfortable when kindergarten starts.

Jacks has matured a lot in the last couple of months.  His attention span seems longer and he's a lot more patient with Link.  Link is kind of in a hard stage right now and he can be mean.  He runs up to Jacks and just hits him for no reason.  Jacks is so patient with him.  He rarely hits him back.  He just tells him to stop or runs away from him but he rarely fights back or acts mean toward him.  He really is so sweet and cares so much about other people's feelings.  He's always telling people he loves them and giving hugs.  He's just a really sweet kid.

Jacks can be really shy sometimes.  He's getting used to our new ward and neighborhood.  He has made some friends in our neighborhood.  He runs down the street and plays with some of the neighborhood kids and he has a friend in primary he really likes.

Jacks is really into playing video games lately.  He absolutely loves Super Smash Brothers right now.  He will play for hours if I let him.  He never gets tired of it.  He really likes all the smash brothers characters right now like Pikachu and DK are his favorites right now.  Pokemon is is his favorite TV show right now.  He still loves Scooby Doo, Turtles, and Transformers.

Link
Link is kind of a little bit of a stinker right now.  His sleep schedule is really messed up right now.  He needs a nap but then won't go to bed if he has one.  He's been taking one about every other day or every third day.  He's really having a hard time phasing the naps out.  He still wakes up in the middle of the night which is really hard he just gets tired and grumpy a lot.  He's kind of a punk.  He can be so mean sometimes. He can be really mean to Jackson for absolutely no reason.  I kind of worry about him hitting our new baby.  He really is such a sweet fun little boy he's just kind of going through a phase right now.

He loves to play outside.  We've been loving this warm weather lately.

Link is so much fun.  We just celebrated his birthday last week.  On his birthday Jacks had preschool and speech so he hung out at my parents in the morning and then in the afternoon we went to Lowe's Xtreme Air Sports with some friends.  Link loves trampolines so he had a lot of fun.  We went home and he opened a couple of presents.
The birthday boy!  He basically ate ice cream for lunch.

He loves the tee ball set that Jacks gave him for his birthday

On Friday we had dinner and cake with my family for his birthday.  Then Sunday we had Jordan's family over for his birthday party.   Link loves his cousins so he had a really fun time at his party.  It wasn't really anything fancy we just had ice cream cake and he opened presents but he really enjoyed it.
