Frozen

I'm really not a huge fan of winter, in fact I kind of hate it.  The snow is nice and fun during December because there are still so many holiday activities and we can stay busy.  January and February are always hard months.  We usually try to do at least a couple of fun winter activities at the beginning of the year.

This past weekend Jordan had a 4 day weekend.  I would have loved to go down to St. George or somewhere warm but we just didn't really want to spend the money and traveling this far pregnant isn't super fun and probably not really a great idea.  We had painters at our house all day Friday and needed to get out of the house so we spent the day just doing fun winter activities.

First we went sledding at the Spanish Fork golf course driving range.  There is a fun little hill that was perfect for my boys.  It's steep enough it's fun sledding but they could still walk back up after so it was really fun.  Jacks and Link both loved it!  We went a couple of weeks ago with the sleds being pulled behind a 4 wheeler and Link hated it so I was little worried he wouldn't love this but I think he was just tired that day because he absolutely loved it.  My kids are finally at a really fun age where they love to play in the snow.  In past years they liked it but after 15 or 20 minutes they got cold and bored and want to go inside and it's just a lot of work for such a short time.  This year they've loved it.  They love sledding and having snow ball fights.

After sledding we went to my parents for a couple of hours just to hang out and check up on my mom because she just had surgery a couple weeks ago.  After our little visit we went to the Midway Ice Castle.  We went a couple of years ago and it was really fun so I was excited to go again.  We dragged Shelley along with us this time and it was so helpful to have her there because my kids were kind of grumpy.  We went to Dairy Keen for dinner which my boys absolutely love then headed to the ice castle. We went a little before 4:30 so it was fun in the light because it wasn't super busy yet.  It got dark a little before we were leaving and it was really cool in the dark.  There are lights in the ice that change colors and it looks really cool.  The ice castle is definitely better at night.  It was really pretty all lit up.  It got a lot busier later and started to get really cold but it was definitely worth sticking around to see it all lit up.

There were a couple cute little ice slides.  This picture is for you Kara!  Does the face look familiar?

Jacks loved the slide.

Not the best picture but you can see the lights in the ice

The ice castle was really fun.  My boys were a little on the tired grumpy side especially Link but we still had fun.  It was really nice to have Shelley there because they love her and she was really helpful.  It was a really fun day with all my favorite winter activities.
